VYS announces the scheduling of new referee classes in March 2018. If you have ever been interested in refereeing and are at least in the 7th grade, this is your chance to give it a try.
The dates for the classes are as follows. Each session consists of three classes – one on the field and two in the classroom.
- Session #1 – March 3, 5, and 7
- Session #2 – March 17, 19, and 21
Breakout of Classes
First Day: will be on a field to be determined in Vienna 9:00am-12:00pm. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Next Two Days: will be in classroom A103 at Thoreau Middle School. We will begin at 6:15pm and run until 9:15pm each night.
What You Need To Do Prior To Attending the Classes
You must also complete the online training modules prior to the first class (see instructions below). This is a “new grade 8 combo class” which has nothing to do with school grades and everything to do with referee grades. If you pass you will be eligible to referee or assistant referee recreational VYS games until December 2018 (at which time you will need to either recertify or upgrade).
You will need to register by following the instructions on the State Referee web site – www.vadcsoccerref.com (and pay the registration fee by credit card) for the “North – New Grade 8 Combo” class in Vienna. (Please note your userid and password for future reference.) Also, please use an e-mail address that you check regularly since the instructor will be sending out notices, study materials and other information starting about a month before class begins.
Accessing the Online Training Modules
Prior to the start of the class you will need to complete the online instructional modules. To access the modules, log on to the state web site as you did to register and launch the online session trackers.
If you have any questions, please contact the instructor, Diane Florkowski, at firstname.lastname@example.org
