The VYS Patriots is a U13 girls travel soccer program. The Patriots is one of the most accomplished age groups in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The VYS Patriots consist of four teams, Patriots Black, Patriots Red, Patriots Silver and Patriots White, that play in three leagues:
- USYS Region I Premier League,
- Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS), and
- Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL).
The Patriots trainer and coach is Hank Leung. Coach Hank is a US Soccer "A" license coach, a 3-time National Coach of the Year, a former USWNT Coach and an NCAA Division 1 championship winning coach. The VYS Patriots is a very competitive program while at the same time emphasizing skill development. The Patriots organization continues to work as a single academy program rather than four separate teams. The girls practice and train together under a single trainer, with all coaches participating in the practices. The Patriots is taking a long-term approach to develop the girls’ skills for the future so that when they reach the more competitive ages the girls will have mastered the fundamentals.
