VP Operations: Brian Ebert

brian ebertI have been the Vice President of Operations for Vienna Youth Soccer since 2009, when I was first elected to the position by the VYS membership. I have been re-elected each year since then. I ask that you elect me to serve VYS in that position for another term.

As Vice President of Operations, I order, distribute and maintain the vast majority of the equipment used by VYS, such as goals, nets, flags, balls, cones, ice packs, first aid kits and locks. Each season (Fall and Spring), I am responsible to order the appropriate amounts of equipment to distribute to the House and Travel teams and coaches. I conduct one or two distributions of equipment to the House and Travel divisions before the season begins. At the end of each season, I hold one or two equipment return dates for the coaches and divisions to return equipment. I address equipment problems on weekends during the season, such as broken bolts on goals, missing corner flags at fields, and locks that will not open.

I coached in VYS House divisions from U6 up through U10 for my two sons, and coached House All Star teams for both of my sons’ at various times. Both my sons are now part of the Travel program in VYS. I have an F coaching license, and completed the PCA Double Goal course. I am a Grade 8 referee, and have refereed girls and boys House and Travel games for VYS.

I have extensive experience as a member of boards of directors for various non-profit organizations, including:

  • Vienna Regional Chamber of Commerce 1999-2000
  • Fairfax Bar Association 1996-1998
  • Northern Virginia Young Lawyers Assn. 1992-1995 (President, 1995)

I am an attorney in practice for 25 years, and have owned my own law firm since 2001.

Personal Statement:

I started my own law firm after the birth of my first son so that I could control my schedule and spend time with my family. Although I did not play much soccer as a child, I have come to love this game since my sons discovered it when my oldest was 6. Since then I coached their teams until they both were selected to join the Travel programs with their age groups. Recently, I became a referee in order to continue and expand my enjoyment of the game.

In my time as the VP of Operations, I have improved the quality of the play for VYS by expanding our contract with Adidas to provide a better quality ball for our House teams as well as the Travel teams. I have worked closely with the Technical Director to provide the equipment needed in order to expand the number and quality of programs available to all the children in VYS. I have also worked to improve the policies and procedures within VYS so that all players have a fair and equal opportunity to participate in all the programs VYS offers.
