U10 Boys - John Ciampa
John Ciampa is the Head coach of U9 and U10 boys teams at VYS. He played for the DC United U18 men’s team and was a standout player for the College of William and Mary. John has a USSF D License.

 

U10 Girls – Michael Newhall
Michael Newhall has been part of the coaching staff at VYS since Spring 2016 and has enjoyed coaching U11 and U12 girls Academy teams. A native resident of Springfield, VA, he played travel for SYC. He attended and played varsity at Virginia Wesleyan and Newberry College where he graduated with a Sport Management degree.  Michael has previously worked for J.E.B Stuart High School, Newberry High School, Newberry College and DC United. Michael has his USSF F and E license and working toward earning his D. Michael has enjoyed coaching various age groups from U4 to college. 

U12 Boys – Michael Roman
Michael Roman joined VYS in the spring of 2016.  He has been working with our U9 and U10 academies along with the Development Center.  Michael grew up in California playing for Real So Cal Soccer Club where he won three national championships, was selected for the U15 and U18 Men’s National Team, and played for the LA Galaxy U20 Team.  He attended and played at UCLA and the University of Louisville where he studied Sport Administration.  Michael is currently working towards his D license

 

U12 Girls – Curtis Wilson
Curtis Wilson is Head Coach for VYS 2005 & 2006 Phoenix teams. Curtis also serves as the Assistant Coach for the Marymount University Women’s team. Prior to VYS, he was on the ODP Staff for the state of Virginia. Curtis has coached Super Y for 3 seasons. Curtis holds a USSF B license and a USSF National Youth Coaching License.

U14 Boys – Roger Wimmer
Roger Wimmer is the Head coach of VYS 2001 and 2003 Red boys teams. Prior to VYS, Roger served as the Head Coach of DC United’s U15 Academy team and he was the U23 NPSL Goalkeeper Coach. Roger holds a USSF B license, a NSCAA Youth National license, and a NSCAA National Goalkeeper license.
 
  U14 Girls – Kevin James
Kevin James is the VYS Director of Coaching U9-U12. Prior to VYS, Kevin served as Technical Director for Culpeper Soccer Association and was an ODP staff coach. His Super Y experience includes being a member of the Super Y Regional Staff in 2016. Kevin holds a USSF B license, a USSF National Youth Coaching License and a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
U16 Boys – Keith Moser
Keith Moser is the Head Coach for Marymount University Men’s Soccer. Keith also coaches a 2003 boys team for VYS. Prior to VYS, Keith served on the ODP staff for Maryland and Virginia and was a Head Coach at Arlington Soccer and FYPC. As a player Keith was a 4-year starter at UNC Greensboro where he won 2 National Championships. Keith holds a NSCAA Advanced National diploma.
 
 

U16 Girls – Nicole Peters
Nicole Peters is the Super Y Director for VYS and a Head Coach of VYS 1999 and 2002 girls teams. She has been with the club for 5 years.

Prior to VYS, Nicole was a 2-year captain for George Mason's Women’s team and a 4-year starter. She currently holds a USSF D License.

U18 Boys – Todd Spitalny
Todd Spitalny is the Head coach of a VYS 2000 boys team. Todd is also the Head Boys Varsity Coach at Oakton HS. Prior to VYS, Todd coached at BYRC. Todd’s Super Y experience includes 2 trips to Super Y Finals, making one final and one semi-final. Todd holds a NSCAA Advanced National diploma.​
 
  U18 Girls – Michel Vanderhart
Michel Vanderhart is the VYS Director of Coaching U13-U19 and the Head Coach of the VYS 2001 & 2003 Phoenix teams. His Super Y experience includes coaching 2 teams at the North American Super Y Finals, winning a Championship and one semi-final berth. Michel holds a USSF B License and is a former VYSA Coach of the Year.
