Referees
Vienna Youth Soccer hires certified referees to officiate play in its recreational House Soccer Program. Recreational House League play is an excellent learning environment and opportunity for new referees to begin their careers and to develop their skills as a soccer referee. Individuals age 13 or older interested in becoming a soccer referee are encouraged to pursue referee training and certification.
Parent/child referee teams are common and a superb family activity. As your skills improve, you can pursue advanced training and certification to serve at more competitive levels of play. Referees improve their knowledge of soccer, enjoy much soccer action and outdoor exercise, and earn a fee while serving the most popular game in the world.
Certification & Eligibility
New to Reffing
To get certified as a new referee one must complete the online
materials (7-9 hrs), attend a field clinic (4 hrs) and purchase a uniform.

Responsibilities
Everyone relies on referees. Referees are expected to be at the field 30 minutes prior to game time and aware of the VYS Rules of Play.
Reimbursements & Compensations
One-Time Uniform Reimbursement
New referees are eligible for a one-time reimbursement of $25 toward the cost of their uniform after working five VYS games within a calendar year.
Annual Certification Reimbursement
All referees are eligible for an annual
reimbursement of the current cost of certification towards the cost of their USSF referee certification/recertification course
after working ten VYS games within a calendar year. All reimbursements are made at the
end of the season.
Referee Payment
Referees are paid once at the end of the season via direct deposit through a VYS ADP account. During the season, the Director of Finance will set up new referees in the VYS ADP system. The referee will receive two emails from ADP: one with an associate ID and the other with a direct link to set up their VYS ADP account. They must use these emails to properly set up their VYS ADP account.
At the end of the season, the Referee Assignor will email Pay Statements. Referees are given approximately 48 hours to verify the Pay Statements are correct and include appropriate reimbursements. Paycheck changes will not be made once the pay summary is submitted to the Director of Finance. If the referee has not properly set up their VYS ADP account by this time, they will have to wait until the end of the following season to be paid, assuming that they have set up their VYS ADP account at that time.
